Felicity James

Violin

Violinist Felicity James joined the Cincinnati Symphony as Associate Concertmaster in 2022, having previously served as Associate Concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra since 2018. Ms. James has also served as concertmaster of the Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra, and the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra, and has played as a guest musician with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.


As a soloist, Ms. James has appeared with orchestras all over the United States, including the Minnesota Orchestra and the Seattle Symphony under the baton of former music director Ludovic Morlot. A recent highlight includes Ms. James’ performance of Astor Piazolla’s “Verano Porteño” from the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires with the Minnesota Orchestra, conducted by Sarah Hicks.

An enthusiastic chamber musician, James has performed frequently in ensembles at the Verbier, Sarasota, and Aspen Music Festivals as well as the Colburn Chamber Music Society, the Los Angeles Da Camera Society, and the Minnesota Orchestra’s Chamber Music Series. She has also had the pleasure of collaborating in chamber music with the Miró Quartet, the Calidore Quartet, Gary Hoffman and Anthony Marwood, among others.


Ms. James earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Colburn Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Robert Lipsett and worked closely with Arnold Steinhardt and Clive Greensmith.
